Welcome to the Nano-Structural Imaging Lab (NSIL)
The NSIL is BCA's correlative light and electron microscopy suite, which opened in May, 2008. It is home to three core instruments; a Leica TCS SP5 Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope (LSCM); an FEI Quanta 200 3D Dual Beam Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM); and a JEOL JEM-2100 Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM). The lab is open to all BCA students, regardless of Academy affiliation or grade.
In 2013, the lab expanded to include a cell culture annex, allowing students to perform independent research in the biological sciences in conjunction with the lab faculty and staff.
